Paeonia lactiflora ‘Bowl of Beauty’
Height & Spread: 70cm x 00cm
‘Bowl of Beauty’ is a late season flowering plant with deeply dissected leaves of dark green. Flowering can begin as early as May, but is usually from June to July
Shallow planting is the key with these plants and they do best in humus rich, fertile soil that is moist but well-drained, in full sun or part shade. They have no preference for a particular pH but make sure the site is sheltered, as strong winds can cause havoc with the large, heavy flowers.

The flowers have a chalice shaped outer ring of large, deep pink petals and a central cluster of creamy scented petaloids. It may be necessary to stake the flowers.
Although the roots can be divided in Autumn or Spring, it takes a long time for them to establish and they resent root disturbance so it is not recommended. Remove spent stems after flowering and cut the plant down after the foliage colour has gone in Autumn. The plant is deer and rabbit resistant as it is toxic when ingested for both humans and animals.
Ideal for sheltered spaces in city, courtyard, cottage and informal gardens and also makes a great cut flower.
